    Help please SLH 2000

I have a 2000 SLH Jet Ski that is having a little problems.

    1. what is the fuse for in the electrical box for.

    2. Engine runs fine till you give it fuel and then it dies.

    3. Also having a hard time finding a pdf or download book on this Jet Ski.

    4. The computer in the steering wheel also does not work and unable to locate the part.

    5. Kill switch/stop switch does not work. Machine will start with or with out the kill cord. The stop button also does not work. Have to just give it gas to shut it down.

What I have done. Flushed all fuel out the system. New plugs

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Welcome to the Hulk

You have some diagnostics and fixing to do...

There should be two fuses in the electrical box.
1/4 Amp fuse for the MFD display
3 Amp fuse for the bilge pump.

Remove the fuses, and check each with an ohm-meter. Each should measure zero ohms.

Trace the Black/Yellow wires. The Black/Yellow wire that goes right into the CDI module should kill ignition when it is grounded.

Check all the Black/Yellow wiring. Confirm that the lanyard stop switch is grounding the Black/Yellow wire to ground (near zero ohms).

If you still have the original gray Tempo fuel lines, replace them.

Also remove and clean the fuel selector valve. Make sure it is in good condition, with no air leaks. Consider replacing the O-ring, and lightly greasing it during re-assembly.

I'd also like to say welcome.
I'd pull the carbs and go therough them as well as items listed above.
Replace the instrument cluster and then see how the electrical system works.
Be sure to check the ground at the engine, remove the cable and clean the paint from the block if not done already.

sry it has taken so long to get back to you guys. Thanks for all your help. I had military duty for 2 weeks.

Ok I found out today I do need to change the fuel lines.

I have taken the carbs apart and did fin alot of black stuff in side. I have cleaned everything but waiting for new rings, seal, gaskets before I put it back togather. the .25 fuse was blown. replaced. 3 amp fuse was ok.

Engine will not start with the safty card out but when engine is runnning and I pull the safty card engine will not shut down. ( I have yet to chase the yellow/black wires yet. That will be tue since I am waiting on the parts to come in.

So lets hope this will work.

Does it start and idle OK in the water?

What is the idle RPM when sitting in the water?

If it will not idle in the water, what is the idle RPM when on the trailer?

It will idle in water and trl but when you give it gus it shuts off. but If I start it at 1/4 or more thorttle it runs and I can go. But If i get before 1/4 it just shuts off and will not go back to idle. This was yesterdays and this mornings problem

Do not know RPM as MDI does not work.

A new day a new problem. well took it out this morning after I made some adjustments to carb in hopes of fixing the idle issue. Will did not fix but was running great then it just felt like I lost power. was still fast but was much slower. went back to the ramp shut it down. Would not start back up. So loaded it up and got home. Started fine on trl but sounded funny. a ticking noise. Pulled plugs one plug looked like it got real hot but over all in good shape. The other was pushed closed and was nasty with gunk. New plug but added an extra wash no tick and does not close plug however plug does not seem to be working. as it was also full of gunk. Any pointers.

Oh also did fix the kill switch problem

The piston or metal debris is hitting the spark plug. Not good.

    You have internal engine damage.

Engine requires partial or complete rebuild.

    Check compression first thing.
Check for a holed cylinder if you have under 30 psi compression.
Shutting down when you let off the accelerator should have been check before running WOT
you may have been lean...bad seals or something inthe carb rebuild/installation.
    Let us know compression.

The piston rod craked witch allowed it to travel a little higher to close the plug. so will to a rebuild on the pistons, rings, lifters. cam looks good to will leave it alone.

Thank you all for your help.
