    Gasket Discussion

I'm in the process of rebuilding a 2002 GP1200R and have a question about gaskets? The way I see it, I have three options. (1) Buy all new OEM gaskets which are very expensive (2) Buy aftermarket gaskets which are cheaper, but may be of lower quality (3) See which gaskets can be reused and only replace the damaged gaskets.

What do you guys think? Is there an aftermarket company who makes gaskets near or exceeding OEM quality? Or are aftermarket gaskets ok in some places, but OEM must be used in others (ie crank seals). Feel free to share your experiences, good or bad. Thanks again.

    After market crank oil seals

I had a bad experience with aftermarket crank oil seals. Both front and back seals leaked after 10 hrs of use. Had a lean run away condition as a result and had to do a complete rebuild to replace seals. Replaced with new OEM seals from boats.net.
