    Need For Speed........ Please

I have a friend who owns a 1999 SEADOO GTX that does about 53 miles per hour on the Water. He is looking to increase his speed for minimal cost. Does anyone out there have any suggestions on what he needs without spending allot of monies? He wants to increase his speed by at least 3-5 miles per hour more.

I own a Kawi 250 Ultra and he just wants to try to keep up but doesn't want to spend allot of monies. Any suggestions???

Well you wont get the gsx up to the ultra speeds becasue the ultra gets up to atleast 65 mph. Firstly you will need flame arrestors,New compression head, new prop to go with that, intake mainifold, reeds, exhaust, bored out moter, intake grate, rideplate, tured hull, jetpump Thats if you want to go atleast 65mph witch will cost you alot of $$.

If you want to get a little more speed you could invest in air filters, prop and mabey even a intake grate.

    hope this helps

    Need some clarification first.

If it is white on top and dark red on the bottom it is a GTX-Limited and 53 is slow for one of those (how is this speed recorded, dreamo, GPS?).

If it is all white with a gold hood/seat, it is a GTX-RFI and that speed is about right and there are not really any mods to be done to an RFI (or any use spending the money if there were).

best way to incrase speed on the cheap

    it's my stock answer...

    lose 40 pounds.

    you live longer too!

    second answer...

buy an ultra 150..and be prepared to spend spend spend.

hitting the water at 60mph is something I'm NOT looking forward to. For me it's the hole shot to 40mph that counts

You need to check up on just what hull he is talking about before you post wildly inaccurate information.

There are no trim tabs on a Gen-II GTX.

Why would you want to extend the hull on a 3 seater? Why would anyone make an extended ride plate for one (refer back to the part where it is a 124 inch long THREE SEAT HULL).

And last but not least, an intake grate will SLOW your boat in the absence of any other mods in anything but rough water and a Gen-II GTX is an EXCELLENT rough water boat in stock form.

Flame arrestors would be an option IF it is not an RFI, which has not been established.
