    Exclamation 2001 slh bogging...

I have been reading on this forum for about a week now. I am working on a buddy of mine jet ski. He has not rode the ski in 2 years, and did not put gas stabilizer in it when he stored it. I put it in the water about two weeks ago and it ran strong for about thirty minutes and then it bogged down and would not start anymore. I got home and started looking online and found this forum. I got some ideas and this is what I have done so far:

    1. changed all the fuel lines, lots of green gum in them
    2. had the carbureter cleaned and the screen for the fuel line was clogged with gum. everything else looked good.
    3. drained the old gas and filled with new gas
    4. cleaned the gas filter
    5. check the plugs and they look good
    6. replaced the battery

The ski will now crank and idle, but when you hit the gas it bogs out and cuts off. Sometimes you can feather through the low rpm's and it will run strong at high rpms. I am stumped I do not know what else to do. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Have you checked compression? If so what are your readings? Also after it bogged out you said it would not restart.Did the engine crank over or would it not even turn over?

it has good compression 125psi. it would turn over but woud not stay running

    Welcome

You say you had the carburetor cleaned? What exactly was done?

Was new needle and seat installed, and the fuel pump rebuilt along with a rebuild kit for the rest of the carb?

Were all the small internal carb passages blown though with carb cleaner?

    Correct spark plugs installed?

I don't think it is the cause of your problem, but while you are checking stuff, take the fuel selector valve out and give it a good cleaning. Lubricate/replace the O-ring in there, make sure it has no air leaks. The fuel lines are under suction all the way from the fuel tank to the fuel pump. Any leaks allow air bubbles into the fuel, which is not good.

nothing in the carb was replaced bc everything looked good. I just cleaned the filter in the carb. I did blow all the passeges out with cleaner and everything looked good.
    does have correct plugs
    already cleaned the fuel sender

You have compression. That leaves ignition and fuel delivery to the cylinders.

It starts and runs at low RPM, and sometimes at at high RPM in the water

It has the Gen III ignition (2000+ model), so it doesn't need an ignition update kit.

You could dig into the ignition side, but my guess is that the carb just needs another going through - this time with a proper rebuild kit, and make sure everything is really clean and set to specification.

Did you disassemble the fuel pump side of the carb ?

Does the accelerator pump work ? You should see a spray of fuel from the small nozzle at the top of carb.A good working accel pump will have a couple squirts when not running.

yea it squirt many times after i disasembled the carb.
If I ride it and just try to blow some trash out of it will it cause harm to the motor.
