IMO, buy a fiberglass one and be done with it. coco305 makes them. They fit nice and are super strong. Thats just my view.

This may sound simplistic, but beggers can't be choosers. You already have a template... it's called YOUR SKI.
Take all the goodies out.
Lay a piece of paper back there, and crush into corners.
Mark with pencil.
Cut out template.
...and don't use polyester resin.

Not even sure if this applies the the gp1200 or not, but out of curiosity, why do you all do this exactly ( for just regular riding or wave jumping etc ? )

I used Billies method on my 03 and it still looks great with no problems on my tunnel.
My $.02 cents; I would not worry as much on an 00-02 unless you have this ski heavily modded. I had an 00 and an 01 that both pushed 74 for years and I did not reinforce them. They never had any problems with the tunnel. I may be way off base, but I doubt wave jumping would have any bearing on the pump tunnel. It is more about pressure built up from high speeds. I'm sure someone will chime in to correct me if I am wrong.
