    The worst part...

The worst thing about ordering parts (at a good price) is the damned delay in shipping. Especially the wait for it to cross the border.

And the surprise you get from the duty fees at the border

    Yay!

Parts arrived today, and no un-expected fees. I find if you ship any sort of chemical, even a stupid tube of triple bond, the border people freak out.

The exorbitant costs are probably from having to whip out their haz-mat suits.

PS 1 down, 1 to go.

Find a shipping address on the US side, then drive over and import the stuff yourself.

The savings on shipping costs into Canada should cover your fuel costs for the drive, especially if you have multiple shipments coming across the border.

For some of the bigger stuff that's what I do.

    The catches are:
    1. Sometimes you will pay duty on it - likely if you only drove down for an hour. The border guards aren't *that* slow.
    2. Depending on where you get it shipped, they only hold it for a certain amount of time, making the multiple deliveries option a little difficult to coordinate, but not impossible.

    Don't confuse taxes with duty.

GST + PST taxes on the declared value.

Even if the item category is dutiable, the norm is to only charge the taxes, and not bother with the duty. Unless it is a high value dutiable item.

You're completely right, I meant taxes. Either way it's hand over fist to get our money
