The carbs do need to come off, but installing a primer is pretty easy. It's a great time to rebuild your carbs while your in there too.

    Fuel Primer

    For what it is worth.......

I was thinking on doing the same thing on my '95 SL750. But after I replaced the cylinders (compression now 135 PSI all 3) internally lubricating the starter and switching to an Odyssey battey this summer, I did not have to use the manual cholke at all. Rrrr boom,..... it starts!!!

Prior to all of this starting was a reall chore. Full throttle and full choke for it to fire.

I believe the Battery made the biggest difference though. Just More Oomph !!!!

Mine starts the same way BUT when it sits for the Winter (just the 750) it would have to crank for awhile. A few pumps of the primer and the hibernation restarts are much easier than a choke.

A lot of guys use just the two end carbs, it's kind of a potato..patato kind of thing. I just feel better with three since I have to fill the holes after removing the choke flaps anyway.
