    Restoring 96 SLT 780

Hi guys, I am new here and have only posted here a few times. Someone gave me a 96 SLT 780 that was not running and I got her up and going so now she needs some restoration.

The girl that had it put stickers (like bumper stickers) all over it. I am going to attempt to get them off with a heat gun today.

This machine was left on the trailer uncovered for at least 3 years so everything is faded out. I will decide on paint after I try to get some luster on it.

Anyway, my question for any of you that may know is: Can I replace the runner pads with pads from a Seadoo? They look close. The reason I am asking is because I found a site with original OEM parts for Polaris but found that the back pad and the left front pad have been discontinued for some reason. I really want to get it back to life. I just retired and took this project on to keep busy.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks, will do.

Wow. You weren't kidding. They have great stuff. I canceled the other order and got much better looking stuff from hydroturff.com.

    Thanks again.

    I'm pretty sure Grrenhulk.net mebers get a 10% discount.

Might be something worth looking into.

Well....I may come up a bit shorter on this project than I would like to. Mechanically everything seems to be on point but the cosmetic work isn't turning out the way I would like it to.

Matching paint just to touch-up the nics is driving me crazy. I understand the thing is 14 years old but I would like to get it close. Unfortunately, to do that will take all summer. I banged myself up pretty good on the force and can't stay on my feet for long periods of time.

I may just leave off with it the way it is and do it all over this fall so I can still keep it in the water for the summer.

    This stuff is like crack!

I think I am going to do that for the summer, but I know how I am. That sucker is most likely going to get a face lift in the Fall unless I run into some type of major mechanical problem.
