    Question

I have an 04 GTX SC LTD... did a complete (0 SC upgrade..(39 hr.) runs 7,650 rpm...right on the money. Wondering why you would hit 8,000 . As Mike H stated.. stock motor?(You must be hitting the limiter....)

    Cheers

Is your GTX a regular SC at 185 hp
OR LTD at 215 HP ?????
IF 185, then your limiter is 7650
    IF 215, then limiter 8160

    We will need more info...

Someone had said that I should shim the sc gear, maybe the gear is slipping b/c the washers are not tight enough aganist the sc gear so there is play between the gear and the washers? Could anyone help me here????

Sounds like yours ski is the same as mine...(185 hp)

When you removed the SC to install metal washers. You had..ceramics? (another thread) your ceramics let go?

    1. Did you find all the pieces of what was left of ceramics..(oil pumps ,filter, etc.
    2. There should not be any end play in the SC shaft after installing new washers.(did you reinstall the shims ,etc. exactly the way you removed them..? (Very important)
    Check slip?
note: SC spins at 44,000 rpm.
    (if unsure..let Jerry do it)..You probable need a total rebuild..(I did..08 upgrade)
    3. Where there washers shimming the SC to the block? (3 #8 torx bolts)
    (mine did not have washers)
    4. Make sure you have everything installed correctly when you reintsalled SC.
Outside of that I can't think of why you would have the problems you are having.

Someone else have any additional info?

    Cheers

the engine is simply not supposed to rev that high unless you are cavitating like crazy.even if the charger gear was slipping or binding you still wouldn't be able to rev that high. on the other hand, was it a complete rebuild or was it just the washers?

-check your wear ring in the pump
