    ss wear ring?

ok so we just got a cottage on lake erie with a shallow sand beach and i know the ski i am puting together now (04 rxp) will be beached allot and therefore will suck up alot of sand. so my question is should i go with a ss ring? what are the advantages/ dissadvantages of one? my yamaha had a ss ring and it seemed great. what is your experience?

In those conditions you will be wearing out plastic rings very quickly. SS is the way to go.

Some will argue that if you suck up a rock your impeller will be damaged.... guess what, if you suck up a rock with a plastic ring your impeller will be damaged too.

At least with a SS wear ring if you suck up a twig or something semi-soft it will be chopped up and spit out whereas if you did this with a plastic wear ring look forward to replacing it.

Like you said, your Yamaha has a SS wear ring and no issues. Seadoo should learn from this!

Just because you beach the ski alot does not mean you have to suck up lots of sand. Make it a point to cut off your ski in at least waist deep water if you can and walk it from there. This is preventative maintenance whatever you decide.

i am always very carfull with sucking up sand but the ski will be at the cottage and will prob. be lent out for others to play on and i can see it going through lots of plastic wear rings

Make your own anchor. Those little pwc ones arent that great and you need a little more weight. Treeman has made a couple really nice ones. Whats nice if this is a lake you live on or ride on allot you could probably make one that will stay there forever. good luck
