    Which oil for stage3+ FZ

Is OEM oil Yamalube good enough to use in a heavily modified SHO engine?
We are planning to turn +8.500rpm w/ all the goodies soon after break-in, and wondering which grade of oil is best for our new operating temps
What are the pros using? fully synthetic 5-50?
    Thanks

I've been running Amsoil for over 70 hours in my SHO.

I never heard of anyone have problems with the OEM oil. With that being said, I use Amsoil oil with Yamaha filters. Lookin for a better filter

In light of the issues with the supercharger bearings at the moment and the fact that I'm pounding the hell out of my ski and motor offSHOre....

I say go heavy...get a thicker layer of protection in there......40w

    Thicker is not always better.
If the tolerances call for 30 then do 30.

I had a Toyota once that called for 5/30 and I ran 10/w30 and the check engine light came on because the knock sensor picked up too much knock.

After a call to the service dept. he told me to run what it called for that the 10/30 was too think to get into the bearing clearances and a change to 5/30 would solve it.

    They were right.

how much is amsoil 10w 40 marine?
i am trying out a quicksilver oil filter for the 1.8 litre.
the filter cost less than 10 bucks.......
i am still using oem yamalube. but, if amsoil is a benefit for a reasonable cost i might switch.
    how about oil change intervals?

I would not do that. I would stick to the recommended weight.
