average price for better than OEM reeds?

Hi everyone.. well winter is fastly approaching.... and I want to rebuild the carbs hopefully this one... I was looking at upgrading my reeds... perhaps some v-force... but the cheapest I can find is around $350 for just the three sets of reeds.. ... any input? Also looking into re-building the cylinders... recommendations for aftermarket performace pistons etc? Or should I just get a top end complete kit (around $250)?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated... I will be doing things one at a time... man I can't believe the reeds are that expensive, but a set of pistons with all gaskets etc.. is cheaper...? correct me if I am wrong... please...

    Thanks,
    Jared

Yes, that's how much the V-Force cost. What model craft are we talking about?

If you have the time, keep an eye out on ebay for them...they show up periodically. I got all three of my triple sets there and have not paid over $200 for any of the sets...paid as low as $140 one time.

Just do reeds and not the whole aftermarket cage! you'll be looking at 140.00$

Where to get just the reeds? Currently there are only a few sets of used ones on ebay... where do I go to get all three sets of reeds for $140... and are the v-force or something else?

    Thanks,
    Jared

I put the boysen pro series replacement reeds in my SL 750 and noticed a big difference. I added a primer, reed spacers and OP flame arrestors at the same time though.

Ok, a primer kit is definatly what I've been looking for... can anyone tell me which type of carbs I have on my 96 sl780... do I have makuni or keihen? I'll look into the reeds also...

Jared, you have Mikuni's. Do yourself a favor and call Randy at Watcon, he has some used goodies and your primer kit. You'll love the fact that if you purchase from him you are tapped into some awseome resources.
