    Question 08+ Waterbox mod

I'm looking to modify my waterbox on my X ski. I saw one thread where someone posted a pic of an 08 box and he cut the baffle. I also have seen some people make the waterbox shorter for a better sound. Can anyone give some in sight on how much to cut and where?

    thanks in advance!

thanks but since the 08 is different it does me no good. I'm trying to see what others with the 08+ have done and how much they have cut or shorten the box.

Cut the end cap off, cut the outlet flush, three 2" holes in baffle wall, reweld cap back on...DO NOT SHORTEN, as different lengths will result in different airflow/cooling water patterns, which CAN result in dry/hot spots causing burn through...Leave it full length, it gives it a deep, throaty sound...NOT raspy like a shorty box.

So don't shorten...I was under the impression by making it shorter it would be a nice deep sound. Sounds good to me since it's less work. I have a guy who can weld it for me when I cut it. It doesn't seem to hard to do just wanted to know what and where to cut.

    thanks guys

When you shorten a box, no two box's are the same...remove too much/too little and you can hurt performance...

Go down to EXHAUST and you'll find info on it...
