Problem with removing spark plugs 07 RXP

I changed my oil today and replacdthe spark plugs. I had a problem when I removed the plugs. I disconnected the connectors from the plugs then pulled up on the ignition coil and when I did this it pulled the heads off the plugs. Is this supposed to happen. I then unscrewed the plugs and tried to reattach the heads but they wouldn't hold. The heads of the plug were stuck in the coil. I couldn't get them out so I just unscrewed the tops of the new plugs, screwed the plugs in then just screwed the coils into the new plugs. I then started the ski and it ran fine. Is this normal or did something break? Should I have tried harder to get the tips out of the coils? Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Chris

You're supposed to remove the terminal caps "tops"? of the plugs before you install the plugs. You should have the threaded terminal exposed when you install the coils. The coils just pull off/push on, you don't thread them on the plugs. .

P.S. I doubt the "heads of the plugs" are stuck in the coil.

That's normal. You need the DCPR8E-4339 plugs. NGK makes two versions of the same plug. One version the tips unscrew (4339) and the other has solid tips and does not unscrew. The 4339 designates the top of the spark plugs can be unscrewed. Unscrew the tips before you install them.

Look at the last pic in this thread. The tip unscrews.
