Pretty hard to mess up a 4-stroke break-in. Let it idle a few minutes to warm up. Either on trailer backed into water or just putting around. Then ride it like you stole it. Just no prolonged wide open throttle for the first tank. 5 seconds or so then back off.

Well in the manual for the FZR it says for the first five minutes to keep it at trolling speeds like idling then keep the rpm's below 5000 and for the next hour after that keep the rpm's below 6000 then proceed as normal.

Hmmm well. I'm not yamaha, nor am i a dealer. I'm just some guy that broke in his 09 last year. My first day out with 0 hours, i warmed it up for a few minutes, just cruised around with some people(40-60mph) opened it up a few times for a few seconds.

At a little over 1 hour on meter. I came across an rxp with a friendly rider. We raced. I held it open a little longer than i should have for break-in. Ski is fine, no ill effects. Not recommended.

After the first tank you should have 2.5-3 hours on it, good to go. I did first oil change just over 10 hours. Next was at 62 hours.
