    1100zxi engine failure

Yesterday we rode our 1100zxi almost all day, used three tanks of gas....quicksilver pwc oil and drove it like we always have....this boat has been taken care of with regular mantenence and has never had problems.....when I was getting ready to put it on the trailer I was just runnin maybe 20mph and I got down on it a little headed to the dock and it literally exploded blowing most of the exhaust side of the engine off.....shattered parts everywhere in the hull......gonna have to replace with a remanufactured engine....which is a good company to buy from and any suggestions as to what may have caused such a horrible failure on such a well kept craft.....thanks...

thats one Bad-azz Backfire! Unburned fuel air mixture in the exhaust manifold???? Maybe one plug fouled(dead) & that cylinder was pumping unburned mixture into the exhaust, when you hammered it...it went BOOM!

EDIT: Now that is see the pics, i see it's the bottom end & not the exhaust

    Wow! That's not good.

Did it tear up the bottom end or just the cylinders?

Most engine overhaulers sell on an exchange basis, meaning that you have to return a rebuildable engine. You may be better off going to Ebay, or one of the used parts outfits.
