Help a newbie! MFD dead after short/bad battery connection.

Newbie here. Hope one of you more experienced guys can help me. I bought a Pro 1200 recently for my son's 18th birthday and took it out for the first time last weekend. It ran perfectly for 4 hours on the lake, no problem. Just as I was coming back in, it started to stutter (lost power) and the Multi-Function Display also went out. When I got back in, I checked the battery and discovered that the negative cable had worked loose from the terminal (it was loose, not disconnected). So, it was probably making and breaking a connection for the last 10 minutes it took for me to stutter back to the launch area. My theory is that this make and break connection issue may have taken out the MFD. I checked the fuses in the electrical box and they were both ok. I changed them anyway and I pressed the electrical reset switch but the MFD still doesn't work. The battery has power (the ski starts fine). Have I taken out my MFD or something else? If I have taken out the MFD, where do I get one from and how much do they cost? I have a 2nd Pro 1200. Would it be sensible to swap out the MFD to prove the MFD is at fault or might that cause an issue? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. I feel bad for my son who has been waiting since his birthday in March to ride and now his ski is out! Thanks in advance! Picto

    Welcome to the Hulk

You have two Polaris Pro, and you JUST signed up here

Check for voltage at the MFD connector. Should have battery voltage between the Red/Purple and Black wires.

If no voltage, check the 1/4 Amp MFD fuse. Remove it, and check with an ohm-meter.

Yes, you can try the other MFD as a test. No harm.

    Hey!

Thanks for the welcome and the fast response!

I will check the voltage at the MFD, great tip, thanks. Where is the 1/4 Amp MFD fuse? I checked both fuses in the electrical box next to the battery. Is the fuse you are referring to somewhere else?

..and yes, just got the 2 x 1200s and joined the forum. I'm glad to have found it. I have several other naive questions

    Thanks again, much appreciated.

MFD fuse is the 1/4 Amp fuse in the electrical box.

K447: Thanks for your help. I'm glad to say that all is working again. I have no idea how I fixed it. I swapped batteries, replaced fuses, reset the electrical box, took of all spades in the box and put them back on and then finally reset the MFD and it came back up. I'm happy again.!
