    jsut bought a 05 stx 12f few questions

    jsut picked up a 05 stx 12f with 48 hours on it, for $3200 its mint .

    wasnt able to demo the ski, but bought it any way. took it straight to the lake, the lasdy said it would run like crap for a bit cause it hadnt been ridden yet since it was winterized. so for the ist 10 minutes the thing did not want to go at all 8mph was my max . so here i am thinking i bought a f'ed up ski, any who played around with it the more i rode the more it started to loosen up. before i knew it was moving pretty good, but i am kinda disapointed in its performance compared to my 98 gsxl with the 951 cousins xp 787 and rx di 951... i know its a heavier ski and still needs to burn through the older gas and what not but expected more, hoping it will open up some more.

    my questions.
    so i see it does not have a trim adjuster on it. is their a way to adjust it at all? seems liek when you hit the gas its spits alot of water and could go down a bit.

    2nd how often should i do the plugs and what do you recommend

    3rd, how often do i do the oil and how. talk a bout a tightly fitted jet ski.

    4th what can i do to make this thing a little more peppy? do they make a pipe?

    5th, what are do's and donts with these things? liek compared to a 2 stroke. i know the basics just dont want to f anyhting up.


    any other hints tips would be greatly appreciated.

    also why is it that with the water off the ski doesnt wanna start, turn water on and it turned right over? only tried it this one time but i cranked it till the battery almost died with out the water on first and got nothing, turned it on started to crank and turned right on.

    first thing i would do is change the plugs, oil, and remove old fuel and replace with fresh. That will probably cure your problem. Then take it from there.

    what plugs does it use or are recomended? oil is new as well as filter.

    cr9eix plugs

    oil changes every 50 hours

    get a rideplate and wedge

    bump the timing up a few degrees

    run premium fuel

    no there is not trim, and as far as I know you cant get it without shelling out a bunch of money

    oil changes are a pain, suck the oil out the dipstick tube, then stuff the hull with paper towels and change the filter

    also how long should you run the ski or let it warm up before you start ripping it around, any dos and donts i should know about?

    First of all don't run the hose when the engine isn't running! It seems you new this is why you said you only did it once. It won't make the ski run.

    Basically what has been said. To trim you just slide forward on the seat to put the nose down and back to bring the nose up. Don't laugh it works.

    The ride plate is definitely one of the best mods unless you like to ride 2 up then it can porpoise a bit more. Your top speed should be around 57 I believe with a great hole shot.

    It is a good ski but if you want more later you can always step up to the 15F later.
