    2008 STX-15F Re-call

Hello all...new to the site (great site) but not to jetskis...my 1st ski was and i still have and use is a 89 JS550...last week i bought a 08 STX 15F with 30hrs in showroom condition for $6000 (i think i got a good deal) after looking thru the posts i found a post about a recall for the gas tank issue. the paperwork the guy gave me shows the dealer looked at the ski and said it was not affected. i guess my question is if the dealer declares it doesn't need to be changed and in the future i have a problem will they replace it? i assume the dealer took down the hull # etc. and recorded it in the database

    thanks Keith

if the gastank is not one of the ones that was messed up then you have nothing to worry about, the HIN will tell them if it had the bad tank. if they say you are in the clear dont worry

if not I have a spare tank lol

The tank origin and the tank batch number tell you if it is bad. The HIN is not the deciding factor.

    thanks for your quick reply.

the manual says to run pump gas min of 87. the ski is not modified at all. should i run 87 or 89 and are you guys using a fuel conditioner on every fill up due to the ethanol in the gas. i had problems with my dirtbike and the gas until i started to run a fuel conditioner.

I have the exact same boat as you. 112 hours on it and I run 87 octane all the time. I never use any fuel additives . . .

The affected BMS manufactured tanks are lot numbers with the first three digits 010 through 033 and 121 though 130, all with the last two, of the five digits, 08.
