Angry 1999 XPL - 951 CC Engine - Repair or Replace?

Have a 99 XPL (Approx. 100 hrs on engine) and one of the pistons is shot (hole the size of a quarter in it) which also spent the head so the top-end is useless. Not sure if bottom-end has or will have issues.

Should I replace the engine or rebuild the top-end?

Does anyone know of a good shop or mech. in South Florida (West Palm, Ft. Laud, Miami)?

Best place to get parts/engine for a 951?

    Thanks

TDSTYG is parting out some 951, let him know what you need, he's good fella'
he wont rip you off on the prices neither, I bought a entire engine from him.

I learned a lesson when letting a shop machine my cylinders, they lost my F*ing dowel pins.
as far as parts go with OEM, I went with WSM platinum, and have not had a problem, but next time I will go with OEM they take a better beating.

I got them cheap at seadoo-parts.com, and free shipping.

find out what cause your problem or else you will see it again.

    Thanks a bunch!!!
The ski was sitting for 2+ years under cover when I bought it. Did the normal maint./replace/tuneup. Ran fine in the driveway. 1st time on water someone else dumped it. Pulled/replace plugs did the dry out stuff then got it running in the driveway fine. Next time out (me) felt the engine buck, pleasant noise, then speed dropped to apprx. 20mph (finished processing the metal (cyl wall toast, head shot, piston gone). The other cyl is fine and get compression (approx. 50). Don't know if bottom-end took metal (looks fine and feels smooth so far).

Appriciate the info. Have fun on the water!!!!

so it blew up due to water injestion?
how long did you wait until you ran it?

and running it on the hose doesnt really compensate from running it under load, to get all the water out.

Yep Water!!!! - Right After pulled the plugs did the quick start w/o plug. Brought it home did the same thing a couple times until no water coming out of plug hole. Sprayed some BP into cylinder put in new plugs then 3 weeks later put it back in the water and sol after about 2 mins or so.
