    Loose 96 GSX Motor Mount?

If I take hold of the exhuast pipe and pull on it, it rocks back and forth. It doesn't do that on my 97 XP, so I was thinking that maybe the motor mount is loose, or possibly broken. I looked at all the mounts and they look o.k., but I can't tell where the mounts attach to the motor.

    Any ideas?

Look under your PTO cover. There are 5 or 6 bolts that hold the black "U"-shaped piece to the back of the engine.

check for cracks in the rear mount also

I've had two of these show up with cracks ( or shoud I say seperation) of a less then decent factory weld. Left side both times.

I that event were you able to have it rewelded, or did you just have to replace it?

had them welded, be warned, engine alignment could get tricky ( they did for me). I regretted not replacing the mount both times, but in both cases, the guys wanted the skis, and you know a replacement part like that is pricey and at least a week away in my neck of the woods. I have an expert welder next door, but it's going to take an extraordinary circumstance for me to ever have that mount repaired again.

I figure the mount bent just a little and if you've ever used an alignment tool, just figure what a little bend on that mount is going to do for your afternoon.

So I took off the PTO shroud and voila! The 5 bolts there were all loose, like as in finger loose. Tightened them up and now it's one more problem solved. Thanks.
