Is it a start/stop noise or is it a constant noise?

What impeller are you using????I'm asking cause I had an issue when I mounted an impeller on my SL had the same problem.

    Review the jet pump installation.

Make sure the mating surfaces between jet pump sections are clean and smooth.

Confirm the jet pump is properly assembled in there, and the bolts are in position and properly torqued.

OK stop and don't turn over the engine - you have the wrong impeller for your application. If you have a PA-SC-I Solas it's no good for the 6 vane SS.

I'm about to post some pics in a second I had the exact same problem.

My bet is the Solas impeller you have is for a 5 vane stator pump, not 6 SS. The 6 SS has a 66mm hub that the impeller goes over, and the 5 vane has a 60mm hub (which the Solas PA-SC-I) is setup for.

This is why you are hearing the noise, the impeller is rubbing against the SS Pump hub.

I have some pics showing you exactly what I mean, you can check the SS on this pic, if the setup looks like yours then no good you gotta change that impeller.

This model Solas has a clearance of 60mm, nowhere near enough to slide over the 66mm hub of the SS Stator.

IIRC the impeller spun freely the other night. I think he's hearing the impeller "clang". Without plugs the driveline free spins w/o noise, with plugs the engines compression causes slap in the driveline.

what about the rideplate/? what happened to it? that noise is the famous polaris rattle possibly. if its a clantg clang clang, then its the impellor hitting the stator somewhere or the impellor is tight in the wear ring too.

Pull the pump off and try turning it over?
