    Intake Grate Confused ?? installation

ok i was putting in my intake grate i thought it was just a lil silicone on the ends and screw into the hole ... i noticed the screw is not big enough for the thread so when i was looking up the size the OE parts include a washer and nut? looks like parts 6,8,9 ....

anyone know what size the screw is suppose to be and about how long? or am i suppose to bolt down from inside the hull. if thats the case i dont see how to do that without removing everything inside lol and of course i dont want to do that.

see yours doesn't use an insert so go to Home depot or Menards and get a 5/16 counter sunk bolt and lock nut and put it on ,try to get a stainless one

use some silicon, slap it on the bolt, shove bolt thru hull. attach washer and bolt lightly on bolt, get nut started without pushing the bolt thru. use a flat head screwdriver to hold the bolt still to get the nut on a couple turns. tighten lock nut till snug. add more silcon on top and below. wipe off excess. done.

might need someone to hold the bolt while you wrench it tight or just get a wrench jammed in the hull somehow so you can get under the ski to tighten it.

You remove the plastic cover from over the driveshaft coupler and reach under it to start the nut ,it takes 2 people to do it most of the time

Yes but a countersunk screw would be better or an allen head bolt
get a stainless one though 5/16 bolt or screw a nut and washer for the inside of the hull and put silicone on the inside and out of it

so the hole is under the driveshaft coupler...?

that seems like a pain to get to.

there seems to be another screw in the hole on the top side inside the hull.

grrr i wish i could see pictures of this.
