best first ski
So i'm completely new to PWC's. I've been into cars all my life, but I'm really lookimg to get out on the water. Having searched way too much (because now I just have too much info that I don't know what to do with) i've narrowed my choices down to only yamaha models, the vx110, fx140 and the xlt1200. My budget is 4500 and it looks like I can get some decent ones for that.
my question is, which one of these has the best balance of reliability (ive had 3 vw's so I'm tired of things catching fire), power and handling? I know none of them are 70mph beasts, but I want something that can take me out on a long ocean ride, have relatively responsive handling and be able to ride 3 up without being dragged down. Opinions?

Welcome to the forum!
Only thing I can say is a friend has had a VX110 since new for 3 or 4 years now and they love it. I rode it some time ago and it felt fine.
I've heard of some with something like 5,000 hours on the in rental fleets--they are reliable.

If that was the 3 choices that i had then i would get the fx140.
It is a 4 stroke with comfortable seats, trim and has one of the most reliable engines thats out there.
The vx is a great ski also but i find the fx alot more comfortable. Those 2 skis can run for about 5hrs on a tank of fuel no problem.
The xlt is a 2 stroke which will use alot more fuel than the other 2
