Every ski I ever owned was a little slower in saltwater.

Why are the ski's slower in salt water. Is it due to current (can happen in either salt or fresh), or water density?

The salt water is more dense, I usually just open the nozzle up some for salt.

never thought about that!! of course i need to find the happy medium, so instead of going with an 82mm nozzle go up to 83mm. or instead the prop may have to be pitched to take some out.
