98 GTX RFI Charging issues
We have a 98 GTX RFI that is not charging, I replace the voltage regulator last year, it worked for a little bit, but stopped charging. Know we replaced the stator (WSM) it was charging for a little bit, but stopped again. Any help??

Rectifier if I am not mistaken.
Sounds like this could be the problem if the normal stator earth is good. The common problem is this, which wipes out the rectifier.
Now the stator is good, you may well have to swap the Rectifier again. One kills the other is normal.
Try buzzing it out with a Multimeter first though to be sure.

Trying to charge a flat battery in an RFI will pop the rectifer/regualtor.
"Do not jump battery when installed"
This model needs lots of power..and if the battery is pretty flat it will overheat the reg/rect. Seadoosource sells a reg/rect setup off an rxp with the right connectors to plug into an RFI. I had two WSM regualtors crap out almost right out of the box, they were replaced, and I haven't had a bum one since...and I do lots of electrical service. Charge the battery full and replace the reg/rect. check the cahrging system voltage at idle and at 3-4 k rpm should be in spec
A grounded stator is not going to pop the regulator..it's a simple matter of asking for too much power from a reg/rect that is about 20% undersized. It keeps putting out until the battery voltage reads over 14 or so..then it kills the alternator output to the system
You can put the connectors on an RXp reg/rect yoruself..but it's a bit tedious if you are not used to working with that stuff.
In one dramatic failure I had in recently, the regualtor failed and shunted the entire alternator ouput to groud AND the battery side too..it smoked the negative lead that runs from the reg/rect harness connector all the way up to the other end which bolts onto the stator cover.
