how to grease shiter cable ??

I have a 2008 speedster 200 ,what is the procedure to lubricate the shifter cable?

It wasnt the cable that caused the stiffness, it was the bolts that hold the baskets ,I just had to loosen them a little.

Can you be a little more specific? which bolts are you talking about? my shifter throttle is extremely stiff and I was thinking it was the cable as well.

Can you provide any pics of the bolts you loosened up?

    It worked!

Thanks for posting your findings. I've been battling a stiff shifter (no homo) for over a year!

shifts like butter compared to what it felt like.

    Thanks!!

The baskets that go over the nozzles when you put the the shifter into reverse on a single there are to bolts on a dual engine there are four bolts you just loosen alittle and it frees up the stiffness in the shifter.

    If your in SALT WATER...

You just don't wanna loosen those bolts up that hold the basket on. You want to remove those bolts,Bushings,Spacers at the end of every season and clean all that hard salt build up on the white plastic bushings. Then lube the spacers and bushings with synthetic grease, then resemble.

Put a small amount of blue Loc-Tite on the bolt threads, then just barley snug each bolt making sure not to over tighten them

    Check shifter smoothness

    WOW What a difference
