Thread: Boost Guages

$65 Autometer vs $25 SunPro.
2 years agao, I installed an Autometer marine boost guage. It read 7-8lbs off a GenII wheel. For the hell of it, I went and bought a SunPro guage. It read 9lbs. So I returned the SunPro to the store and sent the Autometer to get recalibrated and/or replaced. They sent it back, figuring it was ok AND should be the more accurate guage, still readt 7-8lbs. This year tweaked SC'r, Autometer guage reads 7-8lbs still off GenII wheel. Went and bought another SunPro and the SunPro reads 9-10lbs solid. I tend to beleive the SunPro guage since it reads what the wheel is supposed to produce. Years ago I used Autometer exclusivly in a street car. Their quality is top line but am really disappointed in accuaracy of this guage.
Anyone else ever see this??

I have had bad luck with the Autometer boost gages. They seem slow to respond 1 would only read 4PSI while the other read 8. I have been using the boost/vacume version like in your picture and it reacts quickly to changes. I get a soild 9 PSI with the Gen 2 wheel and was getting 8 with the boost only gauge.
I aslo tried a digital Nordskog and it was trash.
