Thread: Hmmmmm........What happened?

Tore my motor apart and replaces the cyl and piston assembly completely. Thi is the number 1 cyl. Here is the kicker, the PV DIDNT drop like previously thought. But this hole is on the exhaust side by the PV. I was a WOT when it died on me, It cranked and ran about 2 more minutes then died again, so I towed it in.
What caused this????

As I said before, you melted that sucker by running lean.

That is the strange thing though, the plugs on it looked fine about 20 minutes previous when doing plug chops.???

Looks like a lean seize to me. Meltdown on the exhaust side of that piston.
Inspect that cylinder well. I would also Muratic Acid wash the cylinder and see how it looks.

a bit lean, but if I richen up anymore it bogs, so it is running as best it can wihtt he settings, but it still washes kinda lean, but teh plugs look good. Im about irritated as hell with these damn carbs!

Are you running the right heat range plugs for your mods

Could be a little lean, but I think your problem is too much timing advance on cylinder number one. You have heavy deto that could be caused by running the Advent ignition. I think your first problem happened right after you installed the box and added another 100 plus rpms? You might want to back it down on the timing, might be overloaded on prop and causing your problem. Check fuel filters and fuel flow from tank too. Listen for any motor pinging or sounds of deto.

Got to watch that timing advance! No 3 degree keyway for you.

Hmmm......i forgot about the advent, I have it on teh Stinger curve instead of the "Stock Single Pipe" curve....Ben you may be a genious!
