    96 SPI starter issues

HI Guys, I have a 96 SPI that doesn't always like to start. When you push the start button it wont always turn over the motor but I can hear the relay clicking. When the starter does engage and turn over the motor it starts and runs just fine but it only works intermittently. Today I tested the start/stop button and the solenoid and they checked OK. Took the starter out and it bench tests fine.

I put a multi-meter on the pos post of the starter and the batt neg..........when the start button is pushed AND it turns the motor over I get voltage climing to 12v. When the start button is pushed and the motor doesn't turn over I get a reading of .5v.

Any ideas? This leads be to believe the starter is fine, could the soilenoid be bad?
