stock 2004 gp1300r compression 105-105-105 but wont go over 40mph. any ideas? i made sure all plugs got spark to it. fuel was good. but will not go over 40mph. just got new piston in one cyl . could it be a air leak or exhaust leak?

What rpm are you pulling at that speed? If it revs fine, it may be an impeller problem. If it bogs, prob clogged carbs.

get another comp gauge you should see 125psi but 105 across the board is ok as well just could be your gauge

get a D plate in there

compression sounds a little low, but not bad. It could be your gauge. Also try compression testing with the throttle open. The main thing is that they're even across the board. I would take a look at the impeller first because that will be easiest to check. Then check the cat.

If he is getting the full RPM limit (red line), I would think the problem is in the jet area.

I'm not a top tuner here on GH ,but i had to step in here, OPs ski is fuel injected gpr04 no carbs. Also how else do you check compression other than with the throttle open(fully)? just saying....

I agree. If the CAT is stopped-up the engine shouldn't rev OK.

I would say you need to look somewhere other than the engine -- maybe you have something sucked in the grate??? If so this could reduce water flow to the engine. Are there any strange noises coming from the ski?
