Blockoff Plate for running remote fuel pump?

    Hi guys,

I've had this question posted over on PWCYesterday for a week and not getting much help, so I'm hoping someone here can explain this....

I've got a set of Kawi SXR carbs (Mikuni 40i) on the Jetmate, and the close clearance between the exhaust hose and the fuel pump pulse fitting is causing it to rub. So I want to relocate the fuel pump, and put some kind of cover over the carb where the fuel pump was.

There seem to be 2 alternatives: order a stock cover like the one on the forward carb, or these Blowsion "blockoff" plates.

The stock cover isn't the thinnest thing in the world, but it may give me enough clearance; not really sure.

The Blowsion covers I don't understand. How do they work? On the stock carb, the fuel pump has the fuel inlet and outlets. If this cover replaces it, how does the fuel get in and out? I don't see any fittings. I contacted Blowsion but they haven't replied yet.

Silly question, but why not just sleeve the pulse hose inside a larger hose?

To use the thin Blowsion ones you have to add the In/Out fittings to the carb body's there are bosses cast into the body. You can make your own plates the only hard part is the recess for the filter.

Kevin, I'm not sure what you're suggesting? Its rubbing heavily now.

Steve, that's very interesting! I didn't know there is room for fittings to be added.

I'm on the ship now, for another month. Guess I'll have to wait till I get home.

    Thanks guys!

I've never seen the BN I carbs apart. But on the Kehein carbs- with or with out fuel pump, the fuel goes down a passage. the pump pushes the gas into the passage. So with the pump off,you could press a fiitting in the passage.

Not sure how the BN I is set-up. Probably need to take a look inside.

Wrap the hose with another hose as a protective cover. Like a wire loom if you will....
