Thread: No fire?

    No fire?

    got a 99 gp1200, started the ski friday a few times ran fine, put it in water saturday and no spark, tried swappin out plugs and nothing, the fuse in the holder is good, so now what do i check next?

    Could be CDI related being that all three are not sparking.

    The next step would be to test the ignition coils, but I have never heard of all three going out at the same time.

    The 3rd step is to pull the spark plug caps and make sure there is good wire sticking out of the leads. Over time these wires become brittle due to all the vibration the 65U motor has, and you have to trim the insulaton of the spark plug leads back until you get good wire. It would be strange for all three to get brittle and break at the same time though.

    Like Brandon said all 3 coils etc going bad is far fetched.
    How is the battery is it charged good.If your battery was weak it might turn over slowly without a spark.
    Test the stator if it goes out you get no spark.
    Then can you try another cdi/loaner to see if its the cdi.

    i did just take the front cover off, could i have messed something up, but it did start an run out of the water a few time after the cover was taking off and put back on.....

    start simple....unplug the kill section of the wires coming from the bars...it would be blk/wht wires....test for spark then.

    So pull the front cover and diconect black and white wires and if it sparks the stators bad

    figured out what you meant, i unplugged the black and white wires coming from the kill switch and still no spark, so whats the next thing to test?

    test stator.....if test good....then the CDI is bad

    Specs are in the service manual.
    Unplug the stator from the E,box and ohm it out.If its in spec its good
