MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A family is searching for thieves who stole a personal watercraft from their backyard.
The theft occurred outside of Paolo Buonfante's home, located at 744 Lakeview Dr. at around 9:30 a.m., Saturday. The robbery was captured by a surveillance camera outside of Buonfante's home. "We were all home. We were just waking up. We were planning to go jet-skiing," Buonfante said.
Surveillance video showed one of the crooks cutting a chain attached to the water vehicle. "Now, he's going to lift the seat. His friend is going to give him a device to decode the key to start the jet ski," said Buonfante. Once the thief started the engine, he drove off with the watercraft.
The stolen 2009 jet ski was worth about $13,000.
Robbers stole another jet ski from Buonfante's home, about one month ago. After the theft, Buonfante installed the camera in case the thieves decided to strike again. His previously-stolen 2010 watercraft was worth $16,000. Buonfante said, "They were lucky that I didn't see them. If I see them outside of the police, if I see them in my house, I keep them here."
Buonfante hoped the surveillance video will lead to an arrest. "Well, I hope they catch them, so I can buy another one, and I can go jet ski with my friends and enjoy my weekends," he said.
Miami Beach Police are currently investigating the robbery.

So this was the 2nd ski stolen from the same guy in 4 weeks... Seems to me his dock is a prime area for a sting operation. On second thought, don't you guys have a "snake" situation down there? How about a clean hull w/a hungry python under the seat instead of an engine...
