    Jumping the 4-tec

I've read a number of posts how 4 stroke engines aren't made to jump, etc. What threshold do you guys feel is appropriate when "jumping" these 4-tec engines? I mean, we all know there are days when lakes are extremely choppy and at times you do clear some air simply getting from point A to point B. I usually don't ever get more than a foot or maybe two off the water. It's not like I'm jumping 10 ft. pacific waves, etc.

A foot or two? You have nothing to worry about. I get 6-8' in the ocean. You will be fine in a lake.

Probably will just accelerate the wear on the SC clutches.

Thats right, be sure to let off if you unhook.

it has to do with the weight of the ski. The ski is just to heavy and puts too much stress on the hull where the motor mounts are. I mean you can jump its just not recommended

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't know about letting up on the throttle when unhooking but I do easy up out of natural tendancy. I'll have to relay the info to my wife, who probably doesn't let up so naturally.

    Thanks again guys.

Not recommended by whom?? I just traded a 2004 GTX 4TEC SC with 110 hours on it. I spent at least 40% of the hours jumping waves on my lake. Who knows how far I got off the water (it felt like allot, but probably wasn't) but had no problems with the drive system or the hull.

I have a new RXT X (S3 hull). We'll see how it goes.

Yea, that's the same info I'd read too. That and motor mounts simply busting.
