    Rear Air Intake

Anyone have one of these that is willing to give their opinion about it? I have a 4inch kanaflex now running to the front. Do you get cooler fresher air where the rear air would mount vs. the kanaflex up front? Also how is the water ingestion? I ride only on a lake and do not jump the ski.

    Thanks much

When I was using the 4in Kanaflex up front I actually had more water injestion and I had the filter up way high. It could have been because I took out the plastic vent pieces though. That section of my kanaflex was rusted pretty good.

Water would periodically slosh over the top and go in between the cowling piece and get sucked right in and cause the motor to sputter for about a minute.

So far with the rear air no problems yet at all but that does not mean I never will have any.

The rear air intake will make about 60-100rpms more than a front air. But to get it you can't run the outwears(the red material) just a screen. Also, you are more likely to have water injestion with the rear air.

OOOO man is correct about water injestion even with kanoflex upfront and that it can still happen BUT if u r careful with rear air not to injest water with spin outs and submerging the rear of the ski then rear air outperforms kanoflex hands down! PERIOD!

I should have mentioned this but will this make me more lean or rich?

mods that would possibly affect this: free flow, prop, x-charger and 42's

I just installed one on the Mrs' ski because she doesnt really wave jump or spin the ski around. One thing I will say- it sounds MEAN.

Heres an iphone video after installation.

The Riva rear air kit is the way to go. Also if run without the pre-filter you will pick up another 50 to 75 RPMs above the orginal install. Also this kit works real well on a GTX-RXT-RXT-X. I have NEVER had any water injestion--been running this setup on several RXPs and three seaters. IMO you should run 42s with this set up just to be safe. Dont know what your other mods are.

Here is why I have more of a chance of water injestion. To take full advantage of the rear air, you need to mod your grab handle.
