    My $1500 genesis.

Craigslist score! I just bought this - '99 Genesis carb'd - for $1500. Needs a seat cover, spark plugs and the tempo lines replaced. It's been in storage for 4 years.

I threw a battery in it, check compression and then cranked it right up.

Compression was 118-125-125. I little low on the mag, but fine to run for the season. I may re-ring it this winter.

And yes, this makes lucky number 7

The 1999 Genesis was the only year the Genesis had a dual exhaust under the hull. I will be interested to hear your opinion regarding how loud/quiet it is in the water.

I'll let you know. I should be riding it this weekend.

Side note - I noticed that it had BPR9ES plugs. I think my 1200 also has these. Are they correct for the 1200? All my other domestics run the BRR8ES plugs and my 750 has BPR7.

Do the 9's run a little cooler?

NGK BPR8ES is the stock spark plug for the 1999 Genesis (carburetor).

1999 was the first year for the 1200 engine, so Polaris may have been playing it safe with the heat range.

For comparison, the 1999 X-45 (SLTX-B) which also used the 1200 engine, is spec'ed for NGK BR9ES

The 2000 Genesis 1200 manuals says NGK BR9ES.
Note that this is NOT the P version, just BRxES, which may have been a typo

    2001 Genesis says BPR9ES

Polaris did make other changes over the years with the 1200 engine, such as the exhaust manifold internal shapes.

I'm thinking I'll throw a set of 9's in there at first and see how they look. I suspect they'll be too cool and will foul too quickly. The ones that are in it were coated in carbon...but there's no telling how old they are.

Niiiice!!I've been wanting a Genesis for a long long time, it's the only Polaris I have not owned for more than the time I was flooring it.

I'm just trying to get in to a few of the later models and hopefully have some that are more reliable.

Gonna have to start thinning the herd a bit. I think I may have the SLT750 sold tonight.

I have always wanted to try out a genesis due to the size and see how much more stabil it may be.

Let me know how much of a difference you feel vs. the 3 seaters.

    Thanks

Yes, the 9's run cooler. The "P" is for projected tip. The center electrode is longer.

I noticed, from several sources, looking for plugs for my 01 SLX,telling me it calls for BR9ES. When the Polaris manual called for BPR9ES. I ran the P's last year, and Lug's has run the P's since 01 in his SLX with no trouble.

A majority of the service manuals call for BR9ES in the 1200's. In my opinion, they will also be a little safer.
It would be nice if Polaris was consistent with their plug applications.
