    Intake manifold -Stock

    Hello
Why the factory puts that restrictive mesh on the intake?Maybe they have a reason to put it?Anyone had a problem using the intake manifold?
    Thanks

Some marine requirement to stop a flame as I understand it.

A flame would have to be pretty intense to get through an intercooler and supercharger and then out the filter.

I just had a thought that popped into my head from a long time ago. There was a rubber piece that held the ribbon in place and it was a bitch to get the ribbon out cause of this piece. Does it serve a purpose? What if there was a slight tear in this piece but it was still in fine shape beyond that. Could I lose boost from this? Maybe a dumb question but I figured I'd ask regardless.

On the OEM parts finder it is #19 under Intake 1. It is a seal. I just remembered that I had a tough time getting it out and it ended up getting a slight rip in it. I can't believe I forgot about it for so long. What an idiot!

yamaha will have had to pass this engine through the testing proccess, one of these rules will have been "ahhhh mr yamaha what have you done to eliminate the possibility of flames from entering the engine?"
yamahas responce "well they just cant"
"ahhh but mr yamaha how can you be sure?"
yamahas responce "coz i put a dirty great mesh in it mr testing man"
ahhh mr yamaha you have done well, here is your sticker now go sell this engine to many"
    yamahas responce "thankyou"

It takes about 30 minutes to get it out when you've done it a few times

Just take your time and remember to put all the wires back on when you're finished or it won't run.
