Well i did it Stock impeller question

After cursing at it and bribing it i got the solas impeller off and i put on the stock impeller. i got the tourqe to 100lbs and it is spinning good but i can hear some slight metal on metal scraping from where the base of the impeller is scraping the outside of the stub shaft....

if i am explaining this correctly not much just slight where the base of the cone of the impeller is slightly scraping where it meets with the stator. is this normal or should i be concerned?

There should be zero metal-to-metal contact between the hub of the impeller and the hub of the stator.

Is it possible your stub shaft is bent?

The way these things go of course its possible....

    another 300 dollars gone lol

how can that thing possibly bend with 100lbs of tourqe =(

its not making the noise now i dont know. at this point im just going to run it as it is and keep my fingers crossed...

like i said its not making the noise now... but it wasnt from the inside it was the bottom of the impeller cone touching the top of the stator... does that make sense? not the blades.

On occaision, there may be contatct. Use a shim to gain the clearance you need between the stator housing and the impeller.

The impeller cavity where the threads are could be bent a little or the threads may be stripped a little. Can you post a pic of the impeller bottom so we can see how thick the impeller hub is? If it's really thin like the olds ones were made, it's most like that's the problem not the stub shaft.

    The blades are not touching

it was the base of the cone part of the impeller touching the top of the stator where they meet after i tourqed it down the noise stopped...
