    lots of spin no spark

96 700 sl, from other threads I think I need to replace my stator coils, ohm readings are short for the black to purple and open for black to gray my immediate question is do I need pull the motor and is there manuals some here I can go to.
Also I am guessing I have an after market or updated system,
    coil pack number 105 552.03
elec box 40410404 on top hand written on bottom is 4010449
and there is some funky wiring with the coil wiring must work I ran the boat for two summers until this problem

    Input would be great

4010449 is an update CDI for the two cylinder engines.

What do you mean by 'funky wiring' for the ignition coils?

The ignition coil pack should also have been replaced at the same time, as a new one comes with the Update Kit (4010175)

BTW, make very sure the battery is strong. It must deliver more than 10.6 volts while cranking, or you will not have spark.

You have a Yellow wire with a Black stripe connected to the coils?

    Picture please.

There is a Black wire with Yellow stripe (Black/Yellow) that is the ignition kill wire to the CDI module. The lanyard switch grounds Black/Yellow to kill the ignition.

the CDI number seems you have a " new style" ignition.
Your coil number confuses me,, You need to take a picture of it.

i got this boat form a friend who just did not want it any longer, It ran for me two summers until it just stopped sparking

11+ volts while cranking at battery and yellow wire

ohm readings for stator 5.6 ohms purple to black and .9 ohms for black to gray

looks like the old coil pack was wired to match the diagram for cdi mod
