    Genesis no start

I have a 2001 Genesis 1200, it was running last year before I winterized it. Today, trying to start, it failed too. First thing I checked was for fuel pressure. No fuel pressure! Jumped the brown wire to ground, pump provides 22lbs while cranking.....any suggestions.

This is a fuel injected engine - correct?

Do you have fuel pressure without grounding the Brown wire?

    Do you have spark?

Do you have more than 20 volts on the White/Red wires?

What is the battery voltage while cranking?

That is correct, it is an injected machine, there is 22lb while grounding the brown wire, I noticed the battery voltage according to the gauge on the dash is low, 11.5 drops to 10 while cranking

If the cranking voltage is too low, will this affect the fuel pump and or spark

Yep. Strong battery is number one requirement, even on the fuel injected engines.

Even if it doesn't solve the problem, knowing you have a strong battery in there will avoid false diagnostics from a weak battery.

Factory sealed AGM battery is my recommendation.

BTW, the MFI display is NOT a reliable voltage measurement while cranking. Put a multi-meter right on the battery terminals to verify battery voltage while cranking.

Be sure to charge it even if new as you just don't know how long its been on the shelf.
Why not just charge and test your old battery just to verify its not up to the task?

didn't get the battery today, I have another I am charging from my 99. Cranking voltage on the 01 battery was 9.5 volts....obviously too low. It might work on my carbed 99 genesis

If the battery is showing 9.5 volts when cranking, then don't use it for any PWC. Don't even try to continue using it.

The chances of it causing you grief are too high.

On a PWC, the number one thing you want is reliability. You create reliability by not using marginal components, like a weak battery.

An excellent quality, brand new factory sealed AGM battery costs around $100. It will last for many years, so the yearly cost of having a top notch battery is less than $20 per year.
