Did you miss our poker run
Hats off to Lori Dillon, Kyle Enslow and the SMLPBA crew for putting on a great PWC Only Poker Run today at Smith Mountian Lake. The weather was perfect and the best hand was 3 tens. The happy winner took home $1,000 in cash. Second place was $700. There were 5 stops which took riders all over the lake. This was a blast for the participants. They finnished up at Mango's, where there was prize money, awards and chicken wings, salad, and other refreshments. We had one fellow who rode the entire poker run (40+ miles) on a Kawai standup. They gave him a special award: the soaked him in buckets of water. What a gas! Although we only had about 20 players, everyone had a great time and is looking forward for the next event.
Their next PWC Only Poker Run will be August 21st. I know the SMLPBA will be doing some serious advertising and planning for this as they want to get 50+ riders. The more riders they get, the more money you can win! There goal here is to be able to eventually put on a serious event; which would include a Poker Run, Drag Races, Time Trials, Bouy races and hopefully ISJBA Pro races. To get to this point they need lots of support from you! They would need to get a Regatta Permit, APBA or ISJBA sanction for insurance reasons as well as a Pro Tour Stop.
We have great accomodations now on SML because Mariners Landing has condos that they rent as rooms for the weekend. Two weeks ago the SMLPBA put on a power boat Poker Run using Mariners Landing as the base and people came from all around because of this. They had two bands and a big party after the event. They also provided bus service from Mariners to and from Mangos's Friday night where they had a major band rocking the house.
Bottom line: we want you to come to the August21st PWC Only Poker Run and have a great time. Smith Mountain is really beautiful this time of year and you don't want to miss this event. Check it out and sign up at www.smlpba.com
If you have any suggestions to make this a better event please post it here?

The same group that puts on the PWC poker run hosts the annual power boat poker run on Smith Mountain Lake. They would like to make the PWC Poker Run as big of an event as the boat poker run. Below is a link to the post on offshoreonly regarding the boat poker run. 3 bands in 2 nights, a beer garden, two nights meals, discounted rooms at Mariners Landing which has ramps a pool, etc. I would love to see the PWC Poker run get as big as the boat run. If anyone thinks they may be interested, let us know. August 21st.
Phil, thanks for the scooters!
