    Tell her to join the Hulk, and we would be more than happy to help her out directly

    One of the others will chime in, but I believe the Choke knob works as follows;

    Pull knob all the way OUT for full choke (cold starting)
    Once the engine starts and stays running, push the choke knob in part way. As it warms up, the choke knob can be pushed the rest of the way IN.

    Push knob all the way IN for normal warm engine running (no choke)

    Starting a warm engine should work with the Choke knob still pushed IN, but some engines need a little choke to start even when warm.

    If the warm engine needs some choke for warm starts pull the choke out maybe half way. Push it back IN when the engine starts.

    A fully warmed up engine that is fully up to operating temperature SHOULD re-start right away without any choke, so the choke knob would stay pushed IN.

    Hey silly !!! .....LOL

    On the 97, I'm pretty sure the choke is a handle, under the start/stop switch.

    To the left is choke ON.

    To the right is choke off. Rest assured, if the choke was on, your wife wouldn't get very far,it would probably flood out or have no power.

    Thankyou for the good work over there.

    Thanks guys ..........it is on the left handle and the pic would be greatly appreciated. I have used it a dozen times but for the life of me without it right in front of me I couldnt for sure explain to her if it was supposed to be in the forward or back position while operating normal after engine is running.

    as far as her actually getting on a forum and asking for help that may be a lil too big of a step. Hell she hates to ask me for help and weve been together 15 years lol

    thanks guys

    Attached are photos from my modified 1997 Hurricane, which I think uses a similar Choke control lever to your 1997 SLTX.

    Right is choke OFF (first photo)
    Full left is choke ON (second photo)
    in the middle is half choke (third photo)
