    Anybody find a 4tec running 2quarts low?

Checked a ski today. 06rxp and it was not even showing oil on the dipstick. Boat was just run and had no issue's are warnings.

I asked him if it ever went into limp mode and he said nope ran good.

SO I add 2 quarts and get the oil to half way up the stick.

I find this odd. How low on oil will theses 4tecs run with no issue's? I could of swore the alarm and limp mode would have gone off.

I guess there is always 2 to 2 2.5 quarts in them. When I change the oil and that is about what I add when I change theoil. so he should of had equal as all I added was two quarts.

I just changed my oil last weekend and it took 4 quarts to be at halfway on the dipstick....

My RXT that I sold few months ago, after the dealer (that I dont use anymore) installed a long block into it had only 2 qt of oil in it. I would get a warning and limp mode when I would turn the ski hard.

So they can run with them this low? HMMM I could have swore the limp mode for low oil was around the bottom of the stick? SO how long will they last with 2 quarts.

Nope he changed it same time last year and about 40 hours use since, but it was upgraded to X SCer and the oil hole. SO maybe it is letting some oil slip throught the SCer.

They only hold 4.5 and you can only suck out 2.7, so please warm it up next time out to be sure you are not to high.

I can tell you that at 8,500 rpm at wot for long runs, 3.5 qts is not enough to keep the engine lubed.
You might gain some tenths at halve dip stick but i would not advise it with high boost, high rpm and long wot runs.

Sorry to highjack Austin, just low oil sore subject to me.
