    R&D FZR/S plate no shims.......

How many of you guys tried the R&D with no shims? How did the machine act compared to the stock plate?

I would have to agree with the not so great in the rough stuff..
    As for speed, it's great!!!

I thinking of going with Jims Performance Moded VX plate..

Alright. Because I have the VX on my ski now and I'm not digging it at all. Bounces and don't turn for shit! Feel like I can trim all the way down and turn full left or right..... Yet doesn't feel like it actually wants to turn. I'm sure Jims plate has the speed. But if it acts just like the VX with even more speed. Then no thanks. Just wondered how the R&D stacked against the stocker.

Has there been anybody use the R&D with stock spacers?

I don't think it is possible to have speed and hook-up. Look at it like a video game. You get to spend 10 points in three areas: Speed, Hook-up, Turning. How would you spend it? You cannot have 10's with all three and I think that is what people want. They want to go 80 plus, stay planted and turn on a dime. With straight line speed comes sacrifice. Unless your like Rius with crazy horsepower.

If I were spending my points on a Ride Plate I would do:

    Speed: 2
    Hook-up: 4
    Turning: 4

I would say the R&D Plate would be:

    Speed: 6
    Hook-up: 2
    Turning: 2

I understand I will have give and take. but I will give back the speed I gained for better handling. which at this point in time seems the stocker will do just fine without having to mess with adding shims.

Adding shims adds about 10 seconds to the rideplate installation process.

I'm reffering more to the repeated shimming to get it where it needs to be.
