Talking Will 780 carbs fit on a sl 650??

Will 780 carbs fit on a 94 sl 650? I am actucually not sure if there 780 or not, they are black. I thought 650 an 750 motors were blue? One of the fuel lines is capped off from factory which i am assuming thats the reurn line? Any info would be a great help. Thanks

Yes they will fit. BUT, they are spun 180* and require a longer throttle cable.

Another member on here just mounted a set without using the 780 intake manifold. I'm waiting to see if he has any issues with them.

In short, yes they will fit. Will they work properly with a 650/750 manifold?????? Not sure yet,

Note: you WILL need to switch jets from your carbs to the 780's.

If you're going to buy rebuild kits, ONLY buy OEM Mikuni Super BN 38 and 44mm kits.

I like to get mine from Ebay.

If you're only looking for diaphragms, you can try Randy at Watcon.com, John Zigler, Sharps marine, partsland.com, atlanticjetsports.com, denniskirk.com, etc.....

Did you mean me? I'm very close with my project - just need to rebuild the carbs and figure out how to plumb the oil injection. I'd like to go against the grain and keep it, but the 780 air intake has no provision for oil at the moment.

    Nope, not you....

Don't your 780 carbs have the oil injection nipple on them?

No - I'm re-jetting 650 carbs to 780 spec. Figured I could avoid cable length issues. I did a search for adding the 780 flame arrestor and came up empty. I figured someone had done this before. Any suggestions?

If your FA's don't have oil fitting provisions, you can get an intake manifold that has the oil fittings.

It's the 750 780 FA, single element that encloses all the carbs, Exposed top. I was surprised to see a short, tighter radius into the carbs, as opposed to the 650 FA base. I'm thinking of drilling and red Locktight somewhere. If I can get a good press fit, that is.
