Digital coolant Temp guage using factory temp sender
Can anyone tell me if its possible to use an after market coolant temp guage using the factory temp sender on the 4tech engine?
If so, anyone point me towards one?
Everything I've looked at seems to require its own temp sender

The only thing the sensor does is vary the resistance with temperature change. Each guage interprets the resistance and displays a corresponding value. It's possible you could use the factory sensor - but the ECU needs the info also for proper operation. Just add a new sensor - plenty of places for one.

My setup I need to measure the temp in the head at the same point as the factory sensor which is why Im asking.
The Autometer website indicates they need their own sensor... but is this just them marketing so they get a sale of a sensor when they sell a guage as well... or do they actually need a sensor that is calibrated to the guagte
