    Possible 95 sl750 over heating

Ever since putting the tripple out let fuel pump on it seems like it has been overheating. I'm not positive. I can hold my hand on the PTO cylinder indefinately, the MAG for around 7-8 seconds and the CEN for 2-4 seconds before it is too hot. The pipe and water box on the other hand is cool and can leave my hand on there as long as I want. I'm not sure what to do. I know theres no air leaks in my fuel system. I'm planning on going on the water tomorrow and taking my stock fuel pump with me and I might try that to see if there is any difference between the two. The pulse line is about 7-8 inches, I don't think that is the problem, I don't even know if that could be the problem. I don't understand why it's only the one piston getting hot.

Thanks for the help in advance. Kyle.

Could it be the thermostat? If thats a possibility, where is it? I felt the hoses going from the pump to the motor and didn't feel it in there, maybe a previous owner took it out?

You're checking the cylinder temps while the boat is in the water or on a hose?

This is in the water and on the hose. On the hose running about for about 90 seconds. On the water doesn't matter how long its running. Doesn't seem to get any hotter than what I described in the 1st post.

Have you cleaned or checked the carbs yet?
What was your reason for changing to the triple outlet pump?

Is it possible there is sand or mud clogging up the cylinder cooling jackets?

The carbs were checked. They seem fine. There could be mud or sand. Wouldn't that effect all the cylinders though and not just one? And I changed to the tripple pump because of the horror stories of burning a whole in the MAG cylinder.

Depends on where the sand got deposited inside the engine.

If you remove the thermostat housing, and find any signs of sand or mud, then you may want to dig deeper.

Yeah, I took the heads off, took the cooling rail off and I don't really see any sand or anything. I took the thermostat out and the PTO piston is really cool, the CEN and MAG are still pretty warm.
