  • Keihin/Mikuni ONLY. The savings dissappear when the trouble starts.

  • Keihin/Mikuni. Aftermarket is most likely equal but I still buy OEM. Just feels better [shrug].

  • Aftermarket. I'd use OEM but the benfits are mostly imagined. I'll keep my money.

  • Aftermarket ONLY. Practically speaking, it is the same stuff. I'd be a fool to throw money away.

    carb rebuild kits....aftermarket or OEM.

I'm generally a believer in using OEM parts. But I also need to save money where it's reasonable to do so.

Should I pay more for actual Mikuni carb rebuild kits or are the aftermarket kits ok? What's your experience been?

If it matters this is for a '98 Yamaha 1200 with Mikuni SBN carbs. Just purchased the ski. 200+ hrs but very clean. I didn't notice any tool marks telling of past carb removal/dis-assembly when I took them off.

Go with OEM (Mikuni/Keihin) everything else is a cheap imitation.

And why do we need a poll for something that is preached over and over here?

Spend the money on the right parts once, get the job done right, perform the PM's and they will last 4-5 years worry free.

Everyone here knows I am a cheap bastard. However, I will only buy genuine Mikuni rebuild kits... You are talking about parts that if not working correctly, could end an engine's life in a hurry.
