hey will a bad plug make a check engine code..

i jumpped on my txi and got down the river today ,,, and it stared to run ruff ,,, taking off it just fell on its face and you could feather the gas and it would run 50 not 60 like it allways does ,,, well got back to the dock and check the plugs and the last plug had oil on it ,, so am thinking i can just go get one no had to order one,,, but alll the other talk on here sounds like it could be the tps... it just did not have no take off power at all you had to work it ,, and you could get it to run top end ,,,,

I would replace all three spark plugs. Sometimes old spark plugs can cause problems even though they 'look fine'.

I order them a dozen at a time
    www.sparkplugs.com
    NGK PZFR6H only, no substitutes

Why do ask about a check engine message?
Did you have that on the display?

You can check what the actual code is.

How to read Polaris Ficht EMM trouble codes without special software or a computer

When the Check Engine message comes on, the EMM stores special codes into memory.
You can read those codes, and find out what the EMM thinks may be the problem.

Clearing EMM Service Codes using jumper or TPS cycling
Note: the EMM may automatically clear old service codes after 15 running hours, if the same code has not re-occurred during that time.

The only real test for a TPS is to install a known good replacement.
